ATLÉTICO DE MADRID – TOUR & FANZONE VR
Penalty kick to Oblak in Virtual Reality
Atlético de Madrid football club approached Befootball to create a virtual reality experience for their fans, which we implemented both in the Fanzone and within the Wanda Metropolitano tour, where two Virtual Reality installations allowed the ATM fans to challenge nothing less than a virtual version of the goalkeeper Jan Oblak, a Slovenian player, main goalkeeper for Atlético de Madrid in the Spanish First Division, in an exciting penalty shoot-out.
We recreated the dressing room, the tunnel to the field and the field of the Wanda Metropolitano in detail to put the user in the shoes of a professional player from this first division team. The goal: to challenge and beat his world-class goalkeeper and teammate Jan Oblak.
This soccer simulator in virtual reality was created with its own physics system that allows the ball, when kicked, to behave in the closest way to what it would in reality. This is how we allow the user to make any type of ball throwing that he could do in reality: interior, exterior, with effect, picada, rabona or panenka ;-).
A unique experience for Atlético de Madrid fans, who were able to live for one day the emotion of shooting and scoring a goal against Oblak in the virtual stadium of the Wanda Metropolitano de Madrid.
We made this activation together with our partner Beon World Wide during February 8 and 9, 2019, coinciding with the Madrid derby held against Real Madrid.
