First Virtual Reality Football Tournament with the impulse of the RFEF
BeFootball VR, with the official support of the Royal Spanish Football Federation, the main sponsorship of Finetwork and the collaboration of Príncipe, organizes the first virtual reality tournament of a VR football video game, which will be played in different locations in Spain between June 12th and July 11th 2021, to give the opportunity to fans of the Spanish National Team to be the protagonists of a technological and football tournament at the same time that the Spanish National Team disputes the European Football Championship.
With the celebration of this tournament, the 5-year strategic alliance that the Spanish startup BeFootball and the RFEF signed last year is presented in public. The objective of the agreement between the two companies is to develop a new category of immersive technologies within the RFEF, in order to launch football projects in virtual reality and augmented reality aimed at improving the connection with the fans, the development of VR "eSports" tournaments, the training of players and coaches through these technologies, and to explore new lines of development of projects that turn football into an engine of economic and social development.
The competition will be held throughout the national territory, with the La Vaguada shopping center as the central venue until June 23rd, and 12 Finetwork stores as touring venues, with the flagship Finetwork store in Elda as a flag, until July 11.
With BeFootball SuperPlayer fans will be able to participate in a frantic game of stopping shots from different points of the area if they choose to be Super Goalkeepers, or head balls as Super Strikers, with both disciplines aiming to achieve the highest score thanks to their shooting or stopping skills, speed, power, accuracy and thus be eligible for the various prizes of the tournament.
Participating is easy, intuitive and requires no previous experience as a videogame user or football player. Nor does it require exceptional physical fitness or knowledge of how a virtual reality viewer works, allowing it to be enjoyed by all audiences with an inclusive approach and encouraging active entertainment with a layer of "sports" competition.
The tournament is expected to host more than 5,000 players who will compete for prizes such as balls and jerseys signed by the National Team, Finetwork smartphones, and will also feature raffles for Adidas jerseys, or even an exclusive trip all for two persons. Already, in its first active weekend, the tournament has welcomed more than 360 players, and the first winners will be announced on june 15. In order to allow the maximum possible number of participants, the tournament has been divided into four competition windows:
- FIRST COMPETITION: June 12 to June 14 . Winners on June 15. At La Vaguada and Finetwork stores.

"Organizing the first virtual reality tournament of a football video game with the support of an official federation such as the RFEF is a huge step towards the future, a future in which fans relate to technology makes them protagonists, and a future in which traditional institutions score a goal to innovation. From BeFootball we could not be happier to have started this game accompanied by the RFEF" declared César Quintero, Institutional Relations of BeFootball.
This joint action between the RFEF and BeFootball reinforces the commitment of both to innovation, entertainment and the latest technology. In addition, this alliance allows Spain and its federation to host the first official football competitions in Virtual Reality, joining the RFEF to international technological innovation.
